The Right to Walk Foundation

The Right to Walk Foundation is a non governmental organization that was launched by Ms. Kanthimathi Kannan, a resident of the city of Hyderabad, at the beginning of 2008. Appalled at the common sight of pedestrians of the city having to either walk on the road, at the risk of being run-over by vehicles, or on garbage-filled pavements, Mrs. Kannan decided to start a campaign to pressure the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Police to to do something to improve the condition of pavements around the city and make them pedestrian-friendly. If the campaign in Hyderabad is successful, the Right to Walk Foundation will expand its actions to other cities around India.
